To
give you an idea of the flexibility that Clear-Site has to offer, we have
created a number of sample or demonstration websites through the
Clear-Site software. The sites range from business to personal and from
sports clubs to community driven applications. All of the sites are based
on completely fictitious organisations and people.
Clear-Site in Sports
Clubs
Clear-Site lends itself
particularly well to sports clubs. News can be published quickly and
easily by many people. You can sub-divide your site into the different
sections corresponding to your club e.g. underage level, senor level,
ladies & gents. Having done this you can then assign responsibility
for the maintainance of the different sections to different people who
would have a stake in that section.
The real power of
Clear-Site in sports clubs comes from user participation in the public
section. By adding messageboards, guestbooks and polls to your
configuration, visitors to your site can interact with the club and voice
their opinions on different subjects.
To sum up, a well
designed website can make your sports club stand out from the rest.
Existing customers of Clear-Site say that the messageboards & polls
give their site a freshness and can act as a forum for members of the club
and outsiders discuss the topics close to their hearts.
Faketown
GAA Club
Faketown
GAA club is a pretty standard rural GAA club based in the
ficticious Irish town of Faketown. The club play hurling &
gaelic football at many levels (underage, senior, intermediate,
ladies etc.) They have a proud history that they want to publish
on the site. They also run a weekly lottery for fund-raising
purposes.
You'll notice quite a lot of information on the homepage. From
viewing the home page, visitors to the site will be able to read a
welcome note, see the latest club news, see the latest GAA news,
view last weeks lotto numbers, see upcoming fixtures and current
league tables in hurling & football. Its a very vibrant &
dynamic homepage and gives the impression of a very active &
lively club.
The site uses Smart-Menu & breadcrumbs for navigation. This
makes sense as there is a lot of different categories & even
sub categories within the site (e.g. Hurling breaks off into a
camogie section which has its own news and match reports etc.).
This categorisation was made possible by using base sites. You'll
notice in the content lists in the hurling section that Site Admin
& Philip O'Brien have posted articles (News & Fixtures) so
this is a multi user system.
There
is a messageboard, guestbook & Poll list contained in the site
so it is a very dynamic site. Visitors to this (fake) site would
get the impression that the site & club is very up to date
Faketown
Golf Club
Faketown
Golf Club is ficticious 18 hole golf course. The homepage is both
attractive & functional with rich colours & useful up to
the minute information. So for example the scores form the
previous competetion are scrolling across the top of the screen in
a ticker and we can see that the course is open today.
Latest club news
& internation golf news is also shown on the homepage along
with upcoming events & contact information. The homepage takes
on the mantle of the most important part of this site and it seems
to cope admirably. There is a lot of information here but none of
it is cluttered. It's displayed in a clear fashion and much of
this is down to the layout of the content in tables.
The 'course'
section makes use of the editor and content list feature. The site
also features a messageboard & a poll page.
Clear-Site in Business
In today's world, more and
more businesses are coming online. If your business has a website it opens
up your shop door to the world. Clear-Site gives you all you need to
create and maintain a successful website for your business.
We appreciate that most
businesses change on a daily basis. When new stock comes in, you want to
be able to advertise it on your site that day. Unlike some web solutions
available, Clear-Site doesn't charge per page so as your business develops
& grows, so too should your site - at no extra cost.
Of course you get more
than just a website, you also get email which is a very effective way of
communicating with your customers & suppliers.
A website is a huge asset
to any business and when its as easy to use and maintain as Clear-Site, it
will give your business a massive competitive edge.
Faketown
Interiors
This
sample features an interior design shop. Its a lot smaller (there
are only 4 pages) than some of the other samples but none the less
very effective.
Clever use of the
header image, background image and the editor makes for a very
professional and clear looking finish.
For business
sites, use of the editor is very important as there will most
likely not be a need for messageboards, guestbooks or Poll lists.
Indeed all of the Faketown Interiors site is comprised of content
pages.
Typically
business sites will only need a single admin user to make updates.
As your business grows & develops, so too should your site.
Pegs
Bar
Peg's
is a traditional Irish bar in the town of Faketown. They want a
website to advertise their facilities and upcoming sports events
that they intend to screen.
Because no two
weeks are the same in the sports world, they will need to update
the sports page on a weekly basis to show whats coming up for the
following week. Clear-Site lends itself very well to this concept
of dynamic updates.
Of course the
management of Peg's can use their website to advertise more than
just upcoming sports events. They also maintain a news section
which is populated with ongoing activity in the pub such as weekly
draws, pool competitions etc. You'll also notice that they
advertise jobs for barstaff in the news section. They also give
contact & location details on the site.
Faketown
Motor Factors
Faketown
Motor Factors Online is another great example of Clear-Site in
action in business. Their stylish layout succeeds in getting
accross the products and services that they provide and the
suppliers that they work with.
Like most
businesses, Faketown Motor Factors receive new stock on a daily
business. The flexibility of Clear-Site allows the management of
FMF to advertise new products in a quick and easy way.
You'll notice the
list of suppliers along the right hand side of the home page.
These images were uploaded through the upload centre. Not only do
the images add colour to the site, they also make the business
look more professional and dynamic. In this sample, we have chosen
not to link these images back to the homepage of the supplier but
this can be done easily if needed.
Clear-Site in the
community
Community driven
organisations can become far more accessible by having an online home to
get across their message. Indeed a website can bring the community closer
together.
Clear-Site can be used to
act as a community portal. That is to say that you can divide your site
into many sections and subsections and assign members of the community to
look after their section e.g. you could assign a business man to look
after the business directory, a member of the GAA club to look after the
GAA notes etc.
There is no limit to the
number of pages that you can create in Clear-Site so your site can grow to
have as many sections and sub-sections as you need. Therefore your online
community can grow to encompass as many different aspects of your real
community as possible.
Members of the community
can stay up to date with whats going on in their area and participate in
the forums and vote on posted topics etc.
Faketown
Community Online
This sample shows a whole community
portal in operation. Faketown Online serves as a portal to
the town of Faketown and covers sporting organisations, church,
business, education etc.
As you would expect, this site
has been designed to be as dynamic as possible with a messageboard
and poll defined.
A portal is a typical example of
where we can add up users to balance out the workload for
maintaining the site. For example in this portal we could assign a
member of the local GAA club to look after the GAA section of the
site. This would leave the master admin user concentrate on other
tasks in the site.
You'll notice that
this site uses a header image, side image, background image,
Smart-Menu & breadcrumbs.
Faketown
Community College
Faketown
Community college have decided to bring their school online. They
want a young fresh look & feel to the site but the
functionality must be clear.
The main priority for the website
owners is the 'school news' section. This content list will
contain all the latest school news items and is expected to be one
of the busiest sections of the site. You'll notice a few different
names under the filed by section on this list so this is a multi
user system. The Notice Board contains lots of rich information
such as tables, hyperlinks & images. This would suggest that
the person who published this obviously knew how to use the editor
well.
The site also features a
messageboard (forum) and a links section.
Clear-Site for personal sites
More and more people are setting up personal web sites. With the
popularity of Weblogs, personal sites allow users host their own
blog.
The editor in Clear-Site allows anybody keep their own personal blog.
Of course because you can log in to Clear-Site from anywhere in the world,
you can keep your site up to date even when you're on holiday.
Joe Soap Online
Joe
Soap has used Clear-Site to create his own home on the internet.
Like most personal sites, the pages just contain information on
himself and topics of interest to him.
You'll notice that this site
also features a weblog (blog). This is basically an online diary
that the owner can maintain to give the rest of the world an
insight into his/her thoughts and opinions. A place where the
administrator can have a rant about whatever may be interesting
them or bothering them on a particular day. The beauty of
Clear-Site is that if Joe decides to go on holiday, he can log
in to his admin section from anywhere in the world and update
his blog and post new content without having to use client based
services such as FTP which may be banned in many internet
cafe's.
You'll notice that Joe also
keeps a videos section. Even though you can't upload video files
to version 1.1 of Clear-Site, you may embed them in your html
from other websites such as YouTube. If you go to these sites
you'll notice an 'embed' text box beside the video. Copy this
text and toggle to the html view by clicking on the 'view
source' check box in the editor. Now simply paste in the 'embed'
text and save the content.
"Clear-Site is so easy to use. Within minutes I was master of my own site."

If you think that messageboards or guestbooks in your site will be abused, you can switch censorship on from the edit messageboard / guestbook screen in the admin section. All messages will now be suppressed until the admin user views them in the suppressed messages section.
