Q

Is there a limit on the number of pages that I can create?
A There is no limit on the number of pages that you can create in version 1.1 of Clear-Site. Nor will your sites performance degrade by adding new pages over time. This allows your site to develop and grow without any constraints.

Q How many files/images can I upload?
A Simple answer ... as many as you like. The performance of your site will not be affected by the number of files that you upload either. If you plan on using images in your pages, we would reccomend that they are optimised for web pages. That is to say that they are saved to be as small in disk size as possible. This will ensure fast loading when visitors view your pages.

Q Can I upload a movie or music clip?
A No. This version of Clear-Site does not allow for the uploading of music or video clips. You may however import flash movies from external websites such as YouTube.com by using the HTML view on the editor. You can open the HTML view by clicking on 'View Source' on the Editor.

Q What size is the biggest file that I can add up?
A This largely depends on your internet connection speed. The faster your connection, the larger the files you can upload. During testing of Clear-Site, files as big as 6MB were uploaded over a broadband connection.

Q When would I need to add up users?
A This depends on the type of site that you create. If there are different sections to your site, you might want to assign certain sections to a particular user who has an interest in that area. For example if we set up a sports club, we might put the coach for the underage teams in charge of the underage section of our website.

The idea of users is to divide up the workload of maintaining the site.

Q How many users can I add up?
A As many as you like, or more correctly as many as you feel necessary to divide up the work.

Q Why are there address & phone number details on my account?
A Even though there is no apparent reason for users to fill out address information & phone details into Clear-Site, later versions will use this information to use in a new Communications module that will include email & text messaging services. In version 1.1 however these details are optional so feel free to leave them blank for now.

Q What do I do if I forget my password?
A If you are the 'admin' user, then you will need to contact Clear-Soft (support@clear-soft.com) to reset your password. If however you are not the admin user, your local site admin will be able to reset your password.

Q Where will I find out about updates to Clear-Site?
A Over time updates will become available for Clear-Site and existing customers are entitled to free upgrades to newer versions of Clear-Site. Clear-Soft will send out an email notification to all of its existing customers when a new version becomes available. You may also go to www.clear-soft.com/clear-site to keep in touch with latest news about Clear-Site.

Q My Editor doesn't look correct. I get a 'javascript' error. Whats that about?
A Some users may see the following error when they use the editor

'Javascript must be enabled on your browser to use the rich text features. To add rich content, enable javascript on your browser.'

If you see this message, then javascript is not enabled on your web browser. Depending on the browser you are using, you will need to configure your security options (e.g. in Internet Explorer click on tools->internet options->Security->Custom Level and enable active scripting).

Javascript is a client side language built to give your browser more intelligence and its not a security risk and most browsers by default enable Javascript.

Q What does the 'View Source' option on the editor do?
A This option is mainly for the advanced users of Clear-Site who understand HTML. The editor provides all the functionality you will need to create professional looking clean web pages. If however you want to insert some html that the editor doesn't support you can do so through the HTML view by clicking on the 'View Source' option at the bottom of the editor.

This will give you access to the HTML code where you can insert whatever html you wish. Be careful though as one syntax error could mess up the whole page. You should always toggle back to the rich text view before saving any changes to ensure mishaps arn't too costly.
